Mindfulness Workshop Series for Teens in NE Ohio

I don’t often do advertising or plug non-free events on this website, but I feel strongly enough about this one that I’m posting it. For full disclosure, I should say that I teach classes at the yoga studio where this series is being held (but I’m not directly involved in this workshop in any way). The mindfulness techniques Barb will be teaching are so important to all high school students and will help anyone who learns them for many years to come.

MINDFULNESS WORKSHOP SERIES

Dates: Tuesday & Thursday July 29 & 31 | August 5, 7, 12, 14, 19, & 21

Investment : $200

Presented by: Barbara Marquardt, M.Ed., RYT, MCHES

Mindful Schools K-12 Curriculum Teacher, Registered Yoga Teacher & Master Certified Health Education specialist

This 8-class workshop series will teach a mindfulness practice to teens (15-18 years old) who are seeking a natural way to reduce stress/anxiety, and cultivate a mental edge in school test-taking abilities and performance outcomes. We’ll explore engaging the senses and other techniques to immerse ourselves in the present moment.

Why mindfulness? We spend a lot of time developing our intelligence in school and strengthening our bodies through sports or exercise, but we give our mind very little attention. When we develop and strengthen our mind, we increase our ability to focus, recognize and manage our emotions so we may make better decisions.

Mindfulness is paying attention to our current experience in a way that allows us to respond rather than react. It is a quality of inner-stillness that is always available, even when we are feeling stress.

Please wear comfortable clothing, bring a journal/notebook, and a pen.

Space is limited. Pre-register online at www.oasisyogaspa.com by phone at 440-523-0099, or in person at Oasis, 3180 Station St., Solon, OH 44139.
